The American University in Baghdad (AUIB) represents a pivotal moment in Iraq's educational landscape. Established within the historic Al-Faw Presidential Palace complex, the university aims to blend world-class academic standards with the region's rich cultural heritage.
To support its mission of serving up to 3,000 active students, the Lecture Hall Building—a sprawling 3,000-square-meter, three-story facility—was designed to be the largest and most advanced lecture center in the MENA region. Hongye Furniture Group, was tasked with providing a bespoke interior solution that matches the buildings grand architectural significance.
Every piece delivered for the AUIB Lecture Hall building represents the pinnacle of our 35 years of industry expertise. By bridging the gap between factory production and on-site architectural needs, we ensured that every element—from the lobby to the lecture hall—enhanced the building's futuristic aesthetic. This open-concept lobby was envisioned as a high-traffic transit hub and a collaborative social anchor, utilizing organic, curvilinear seating to follow the building's flow. To define the facility's prestigious aesthetic, we selected a palette of warm wood tones paired with minimalist grey upholstery.

To harmonize with the building's unique internal contours, we specialized in engineering organic, curved seating that serves as a functional extension of the architecture. This process transitioned seamlessly from vision to reality in our factory, where our team constructed complex wooden skeletons designed for maximum structural integrity over massive spans. Each bespoke component was finished with refined, tapered wood veneers and an integrated amber LED system—pre-assembled in our workshop to create a modern 'floating' effect and ensure perfect alignment for the final installation in Baghdad.
